Some Metro riders in Southeast DC got a scare on Thursday afternoon after first responders evacuated a station and temporarily suspended service due to smoky conditions caused by a fire. Shortly after 1 p.m. on Feb. 15, DC Fire and EMS personnel reported that they were called to the Eastern Market Metro station, where there was smoke on the platform, officials say. Some commuters in DC are up in arms as the WMATA closes down certain Red Line trains to allow for necessary repairs during the holiday season. Police say that a man tethered to a dog got dragged to death by a train at the Dunn Loring-Merrifield station in Northern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon.
