North Bethesda Pedestrian Killed By Train
A pedestrian died by suicide in a train strike Sunday evening, April 14 in Bethesda, WMATA officials said. The unidentified man walked beyond the end gate a the North Bethesda station and intentionally placed himself in the path of the train at approximately 8 p.m., a spokesperson for the agency said. Emergency personnel responded, however, there were no signs of life and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old man fatally shot his teen brother before turning the gun on himself in Howard County. Michael Bassler was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound while his 15-year-old brother, Stephen Bassler, was found with a gunshot wound around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at their home on the 5200 block of Five Fingers Way in Columbia, Howard County police said. The Navy is making headlines for suicide yet again after four Navy sailors appear to have died by suicide over the course of less than a month in the same Norfolk Navy command, reports CBS News. The body of a person who apparently jumped off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was recovered by crews on Tuesday, April 5, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) A DNR spokesperson told Daily Voice they assisted the Maryland Department of Transportation Authority (MDTA) with recovering the deceased individual.
