Tens Of Thousands In DMV Without Power With New Round Of Rain Approaching
Tens of thousands of residents throughout the DMV region are in the dark as whipping winds and heavy rains have knocked out power to some neighborhoods and businesses.
With the worst of the storm yet to come, as of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 Baltimore Gas and Electric crews were still working to repair 720 active outages impacting 34,513 of the company's 1,348,380.

Drug Bust: Maryland Man Among Four Nabbed In Major Virginia Operation
Police have made four arrests and seized a mass quantity of drugs and evidence in a Virginia bust.
Matthew Powers, 33, of Alexandria; Mondell Opoku, 32, of Woodbridge; Andres Blacno, 27 of Clinton, MD; and Ali Banihashemi, 32, of Burke; were charged with various drug offenses and more, Fairfax County police said.
An investigation into the four was launched in March 2023 following a tip into a drug distribution ring in the Mount Vernon District, authorities said.

Double DC Murderer Nabbed Years Later, Police Say
A 29-year-old man has been charged in a pair of murders dating back to 2020 and 2021, in Washington DC, authorities said.
Michael Sanders is believed to have killed 30-year-old Youness Zarouaki, of Alexandria, VA, on Feb. 18, 2021; and 34-year-old Kenneth Brown, of Southeast, DC, on July 16, 2020, DC police said.
Zarouaki was shot on the 1000 block of Thomas Jefferson Street, Northwest, where he was pronounced dead. Brown was hospitalized after being found shot in a building on the 400 block of 33rd Street, and pronounced dead, authorities said.

Missing VA Teens' Car Found In MD
A search has been launched for a pair of Virginia teens missing since Monday, July 17.
Hannah Posey, of Manassas, and Jacob Sookdeo, of Alexandria, both 15, are believed to be together, police in Manassas Park said.
The vehicle they were traveling in was found in Anne Arundel County, MD on Friday, July 21. Hannah is wearing a ring, and bracelets, and carrying a teal/gray backpack. She has a scar on the top of her nose between her eyes.
Police believe the two may be in Maryland or Pennsylvania.

An Alexandria man has been convicted of shooting at a wheelchair-bound “friend” who had to play dead outside an area Walmart to get his assailant to stop his attack, federal officials announced.
Richard Nduba, 39, was found guilty following a three-day trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for firing multiple shots a a man during an argument that rapidly escalated in August 2022 in Northwest DC.
