Garrick Powell, 29, was accused of killing Safe Streets co-founder Dante Barksdale after he was found shot in the head in January 2021 near the Douglass Homes complex.

Powell's defense team argued that there was not enough evidence to convict Powell of murder, and that the murder weapon could have belonged to someone else other than Powell.
