Police have identified the innocent driver killed by a wrong-way car thief during a police pursuit on I-695 earlier this week. Dimeka Thornton, 37, of Windsor Mill, was operating an Acura TSX when she was struck by a driver in a stolen car in the outer loop, on the ramp to Exit 18 to Liberty Road around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 8, the Maryland Attorney General's Office said in a release. Raymond Garfield Campbell made it across the country but is back in Maryland to face charges for the 2020 murder of a Pennsylvania man in Washington County, police say. Campbell, 36, was arrested in California and returned back to the East Coast to face charges for his alleged role in the fatal October 2020 shooting of Waynesboro resident Daynard Devere Johnson, according to the Hagerstown Police Department. A Virginia man is in custody after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend dead during an argument at her Maryland home on Tuesday morning, April 9. Kevin Derr, 50, of Alexandria, was charged with first- and second- degree murder and other offenses, in the death of Wendolyn McKoy, 47, Prince George's County police said. A Hanover man was arrested over the weekend for stealing tires off of a vehicle left in the parking garage of a hotel in Anne Arundel County, police said. Officers responded to the parking garage of the Hotel at Arundel Preserve to investigate a report of a person stealing tires and rims from a vehicle just before 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, April 6. A 45-year-old Stafford man has been convicted for his role in an animal fighting ring in the DMV for five years, federal officials said. Mark Joseph Rodriguez, aka “Slow Poke,” and co-conspirators from the region used a messaging app that they called "The DMV Board" or "The Board" to discuss training fighting dogs, exchange videos about dogfighting, and arrange and coordinate dog fights, out of view of law enforcement, Jessica D. Police have identified and charged a suspect in a string of apartment break-ins in Prince George’s County. Augustine Koroma, 22, of Lanham, was charged with a residential robbery at a home on the 9900 block of Good Luck Road that occurred on Monday, April 8. Koroma allegedly broke into the apartment around 5 a.m., implied he had a gun and demanded the victims’ property. “In fear for their lives, they complied,” said police. Suspect Charged With Murder Of Teen In Baltimore’s Central District: Police
A suspect has been arrested and charged days after the deadly shooting of a teen in Baltimore’s Central District, police said. Dejuan Cole, 19, was charged with first-degree murder, Baltimore Police said Tuesday, April 9. Cole, of Pikesville, is accused of shooting 17-year-old Devron Tyner near the 200 block of East Pratt Street on Monday, April 1. Tyner was found wounded at the scene shortly before 8:30 p.m. and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Cole turned himself in Monday and was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
