A 37-year-old man who police found asleep behind the wheel of a car was found with drugs and more than $1,100 in cash, police in Bergen County said. Lyndhurst Police Officer Dorio approached a Toyota Corolla stopped in the middle of the 300 block of Harding Avenue around 3:35 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, where a man later identified as Daniel Barro Jr., of Clifton, was sleeping behind the wheel, Detective Lt. A Morris County wildfire that residents say may have been caused by fireworks set off on Halloween night had spread to nearly 140 acres as of Friday, Nov. 1. Serious Crash Shuts Route 287 In Hanover
A serious crash closed a stretch of Route 287 in Morris County on Thursday night, Oct. 31. The NJDOT site says the crash happened in the northbound lanes, north of Exit 39 in Hanover. As of 8:40 p.m., two right lanes were closed and emergency vehicles were at the scene.

Glen Rock Bottle King Employee Hospitalized After Chasing Down Shoplifter Halloween Night
A Bergen County Bottle King employee was hospitalized with injuries suffered while trying to chase down a shoplifter Thursday night, Oct. 31, Daily Voice has learned. Police were trying to determine exactly how the employee of the Glen Rock store on Prospect Street was injured — he may have tripped and fallen, or have been struck by a car sometime around 7:30 p.m., incident reporter Boyd A. Loving said. He was ultimately taken to The Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Overturned Tractor Trailer Shuts Route 287 In Somerset County
A stretch of Route 287 was closed by an overturned tractor-trailer Thursday evening, Oct. 31 in Somerset County. The NJDOT site shows it happened in the northbound lanes at Exit 12 in Franklin Township. As of 6:50 p.m., all lanes were closed.

Former Columbia University VP Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Pre-Teen At Woodcliff Lake Home
A former Columbia University vice president has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 years old at his Bergen County home, authorities announced. Marcelo Velez was found to have sexually assaulted the child at his home in Woodcliff Lake after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office was notified in January 2021, Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Wayne Woman, 72, Made Bomb Threat That Locked Down Holy Name Medical Center: Prosecutor
A 72-year-old woman has been charged with calling in a bomb threat to Holy Name Medical in August, authorities said. Adele Ulrich, of Wayne, called the hospital on Aug. 17 saying that several bombs were going to detonate in the hospital, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said following a months-long investigation. Victim Struck By Car On Route 3 Had Gotten Out Of Vehicle After Crash In East Rutherford: PD
A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Route 3 Thursday morning, Oct. 31, police said. Police said that the 34-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle that had just been involved in a single-vehicle crash when he got out and proceeded to walk along the highway around 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of East Rutherford. That's when the man was struck by a vehicle eastbound. The victim suffered leg and back injuries and was taken to Hackensack Medical Center. The highway was reopened around 10:50 a.m.
