Two Dogs Die During Monroe House Fire Two dogs died and one firefighter suffered minor injuries during a house fire that broke out in Monroe early Wednesday morning. The fire started around 8 a.m., on lower Pepper Street, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Catalano.  When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy fire and received reports of a possible person trapped inside, the chief said. Firefighters, including Monroe, Stepney, Stevenson volunteer fire department, were quickly able to determine that no one was inside, but two dogs did perish in the blaze, he said.
