Days after President Biden announced a sweeping plan to forgive thousands of dollars in federal student loans, authorities are warning of scammers preying on those with student debt. Several police agencies around the country are urging people to be on the lookout for “red flags” that may indicate a would-be scammer. As the end of the school year grows near and students are dreaming of proms and graduation ceremonies, Connecticut state officials have released guidelines on how to limit the spread of COVID-19. One school in Fairfield County earned top marks in 2020 by being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon Schools. U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced 367 schools across the country were recognized for their overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among students.
