Greenwich Police Nab Violent Kidnapper Who Fled From Westchester County, Cops Say
Police in Fairfield County nabbed a violent kidnapper who fled from Westchester County after committing the alleged crime.
The incident took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Sept. 21.
According to Lt. Patrick Smyth, of the Greenwich Police, the department was notified by authorities in Westchester that police pursued a suspected wanted in a kidnapping and assault with a gun in Rye and had crossed state lines into the Town of Greenwich.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Patrick Twomey, age 39, of Lodi, New Jersey, was believed to be armed and dangerous, Smyth said.

Fairfield County Bank Robbery Suspect Surrenders To Police
A man wanted for the robbery of a Fairfield County bank turned himself in to police one day after his wanted photo was plastered everywhere by the media.
Joseph Heffner, aka “JC”, age 42, of Greenwich, surrendered to Greenwich Police at 11 am Thursday, June 2, after learning that there was a warrant for his arrest.
On the morning of Wednesday, May 11, Heffner allegedly entered the M&T Bank in Cos Cob and demanded money, Capt. Mark Zuccerella said.
No weapon was displayed, and he made off with less than $5,000, Zuccerella added.

1-4 Magnitude Earthquake Startles Some Fairfield County Residents
If you felt a jolt, you weren't imagining things.
The mild, shaking jolt in Connecticut that startled some in Fairfield County, was in fact a mild earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS, the organization responsible for earthquake tracking around the country, said the 1.4-magnitude quake took place at 12:38 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 in Greenwich, two kilometers north-northwest of the neighborhood of Cos Cob.
They reported the quake was felt in Cos Cob, Greenwich, Old Greenwich, and Riverside.

Fairfield County Man Busted Selling Large Amounts Of Xanax Purchased On Internet, Police Say
A Fairfield County man has allegedly been busted with a large amount of Xanax that was purchased through the internet.
Stephen Bridge, age 32, of Cos Cob, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 8, on a warrant for an incident that took place on Tuesday, Jan. 19, said Greenwich Police Captain Mark E. Zuccerella.
The investigation into Bridge began when the Greenwich Police Narcotics Section conducted an investigation that he was selling Xanax pills within the town, Zuccerella said.

Speeding Driver Runs Three Red Lights, Reaches Dangerous Speeds In Fairfield County, Police Say
A driver was charged with multiple offenses after running three red lights and reaching "dangerous speeds," in his efforts to elude police.
Asaiah John Ford, 18, of East Haven, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 31, after he was spotted running a red light on Orchard Street at Post Road around 1:40 a.m., in Cos Cob, said Greenwich Police Captain Mark E. Zuccerella.
The incident began when officers attempted to pull over a Ford Fiesta driven by Ford after he ran a light and then sped off, running three additional lights and reaching dangerous speeds in his effort to get away, Zuccerella said.

Man, 60, Killed When Motorcycle Crashes Into Road Sign In Fairfield County
A 60-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Northern Fairfield County.
The crash happened just after 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1 on a stretch of Route 35 in Ridgefield, police said.
The victim, identified as John Lienhardt, 60, of Cos Cob, was traveling eastbound when his motorcycle went off the roadway, striking a road sign, Ridgefield Police said.
He was then treated at the scene and transported to the Danbury Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.

ID Released For 27-Year-Old Killed In Route 1 Crash
The identity has been released for the person killed in a single-vehicle crash after hitting a tree and utility wires, before slamming into a building.
The crash took place around 10:18 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, on Post Road (Route 1) with the intersection with Cross Lane in Cos Cob, according to Greenwich Police.
The vehicle, a 2008 Ford Taurus, had been traveling east when it left the roadway and struck a tree and utility wires before it ended up colliding with the commercial building located at 121 Post Road, police said.

Homeowner Confronts Suspects During Attempted Burglary In Cos Cob, Police Say
Two men were nabbed by Greenwich Police after they allegedly attempted to break into a Cos Cob home, only to be confronted by the homeowner.
Jacob Rivera, 26, and Nafi Rodriguez, 23, both of the Bronx, were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after they “were confronted by the homeowner when they attempted to force entry through a rear door," Greenwich Police said.
Both men fled, but were located about a mile away, police added.
The duo was charged with criminal trespass, possession of burglary tools, criminal attempt at burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Matthew Ward Of Rye, Student At Purchase College, Dies At 21
Purchase College student Matthew Michael Ward of Rye died Friday, May 31. He was 21.
He was the son of Michael and Vivian Ward and is also survived by sisters, Marguerite, Miriam, Mary-Kathryn, and Meredith.
According to his obituary, he was the happiest young man who loved making everyone laugh, gifted with many talents including making music, jamming with his friends, and playing timpani at St. Augustine's Church on major feast days with his father who is the longtime music director there.
Ward was pursuing a degree in communications.

Stamford Man Charged With Burglarizing Businesses In Cos Cob
A 25-year-old man wanted in Greenwich for an alleged burglary was nabbed while a prisoner with the Stamford Police Department.
Jimil Gaskins, 24, of Washington Boulevard, Stamford, was picked up by Greenwich Police on a warrant following an investigation into a commercial burglary at a business in Cos Cob on Jan. 28, Slusarz said.
He was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, at the Stamford Police Department, and charged with one count of burglary.
Gaskins is being held on $50,000 bond, which he was unable to make. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 11.
