Police Charge Harriman Man With Stealing Gun, Shooting Family Member HARRIMAN, N.Y. -- New York State Police have arrested a Harrison man after a family member contacted police to report that he had stolen a gun and shot him in the arm. According to TWC News, 25-year-old Matthew Bauman had stolen the gun and planned to rob the Quick Shop Deli on River Road as a way to fund his drug addiction. Armonk's Frosty The Snowman Parade Gets New Route, Gazebo ARMONK, N.Y. -- Armonk's favorite parade is getting a new route to the renovated gazebo in the hamlet's center. For the past five years, the Frosty Day Parade is held to remember the lyricist Steve Nelson, who is supposed to have based the song on his times visiting Armonk. This year the parade gets a new route, The Examiner News reports, starting on Old Route 22 at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and north along Main Street to Maple Avenue before turning right to go to the park ending at Wampus Brook Park for a 5 p.m. tree lighting ceremony. New Rochelle Sets Up New Program For City's Homeless NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The city of New Rochelle will be using federal grant money to establish a program to help get homeless people into permanent housing, according to lohud.com.According to Lohud, New Rochelle wants to use a $306,189 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to establish a rent-assistance program in an effort to find housing for the homeless that would start in 2016. Cortlandt Purchases Con Edison Property For Use By Town Departments CORTLANDT, N.Y. - The Cortlandt Town Board recently purchased 99 acres of land along the Hudson River from Con Edison.The land, in the hamlet of Verplanck, was purchased in a bid of $2.75 million. Because of Cortlandt's low debt, the board was able to secure a bond for part of the cost after having made a 10 percent down payment. Town officials say the land will be used as a new operating department site for the highway, parks, sanitation and water departments as well as include a network of fields, walking paths and a handball court. Fairfield Psychiatrist Called A Flight Risk After Arrest On Drug Charges FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Police have determined that Fairfield psychiatrist Dr. Ljudmil Kljusev is a flight risk, after being arrested earlier this month on federal charges of illegally distributing narcotics.According to the New Haven Register, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Merriam said that because of Kljusev's dual citizenship with Canada, she has determined him to be a significant flight risk if released.
