Westport Registrars To Conduct Audit Of Voting Machines WESTPORT, Conn. — The election results from the voting machines in Westport's Districts 6 and 7 will be audited a month after the November voting.The Registrars of Voters announced that they will be holding an audit of the optical scan voting machines on Dec. 3 in Town Hall starting at 1 p.m.  If required, the audit will be suspended and reconvened at 1p.m. Dec 4, they said.  Residents are allowed to observe the process.

Tappan Zee Bridge Work Might Be Killing Sturgeon ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A federal agency is taking another look into reports that say the construction of the new Tapen Zee Bridge is killing the sturgeon that swim in the Hudson River, according to a report in LoHud.com. Lohud reports that the environmental group Riverkeeper has reported more than 120 sturgeon deaths, 46 so far in 2015, since work on the bridge began in 2012. A spokeswoman with the National Marine Fisheries Service told LoHud that the agency knew about the situation before Riverkeeper raised the issue and was working with the Federal Highway Administration. Dutchess County Hosts State Preparedness Training Session DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - In the wake of the attacks in Paris two weeks ago, hundreds turned out for a Citizen Preparedness Training at Dutchess Community College Tuesday night.Some 300 residents attended the session learning how to "Prepare, Respond, Recover" when disaster strikes. The session was two hours, and was intended for residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.
