The snow will turn to a mixed bag of precipitation, especially south of the Merritt Parkway on Monday, including freezing rain and sleet before noon before likely returning to snow sometime around 3 p.m. with another 3 to 5 inches possible on Groundhog Day.
Total snow accumulation of between 6 to 10 inches is possible in areas farther south and as much as 8 to 12 inches in Northern Fairfield.
Sunday's high temperature will be between 29 and 31 degrees. But frigid temperatures will return later in the day Monday, falling into the teens by the late afternoon.
The outlook for Tuesday is mostly cloudy and cold with a high between 16 and 18.
