FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. The date and site for the State Open cross country championships were changed Tuesday by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The meet will now take place Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Hammonasset State Park in Madison.
The boys race will being at 1:45, and the girls race will begin at 2:30.
The race had been scheduled for Friday at Wickham Park in Manchester, site of last Saturdays class championships. The Wickham course suffered extensive damage in last weekends storm, and is unavailable for the rest of the year.
Some state races have yet to be completed. The Class SS boys and girls and the Class S girls will be held on the same day as the State Open. The results from those races will be merged to determine the final open results, according to an announcement on the CIAC website.
Several teams won class championships last weekend at Wickham Park. Fairfield Prep won the boys Class LL title, while Darien won the Class L crown. Wiltons girls ran off with Class L honors. Preps Connor Rog and Fairfield Wardes Harry Warnick (Class L) were among the individual champions.
