Golf
The Westport PAL football and cheerleading annual golf fund-raiser will be played June 18 at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield. The day features a shotgun start at 7 a.m., continental breakfast, and buffet lunch. People can register to play golf, attend lunch, or sponsor a tee or green. Online is registration is open for Norwalk Youth Football League and Cheerleading. There is also a Flag Football league. Find out more about registering here.
Registration is open for the Westport football program. Players who are interested in participating in a new flag football program and cheerleaders seeking to join the program can also register. The flag football program is for players in grades 3-8. Flag football teams will practice Friday nights with games on Saturdays and Sundays. Golf
The 7th Annual Spc. Wilfredo Perez Jr. Golf Classic will be held on Mon., June 14, 2010 at Silvermine Golf Club. Perez, a Norwalk soldier, was killed in Iraq on July 26, 2003. Visit www.perezjrmemorialfund.org for more details.
Running
The Weston Memorial Day Weekend 5K Road Race will be run May 29 at 8:30 a.m. There is also a fun run for kids. Runners can register online here.
Sunday training runs occur with Alex Dino at Greenwich Running Co., 2 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich beginning at 8 a.m. Runs range from 10-18 miles and there are two pace groups, 8-9 per mile and 9-10 per mile. Register with auggie_d_2000@yahoo.com for Gatorade allocation.
The Westport Joggers Club meets Saturdays from May 1-June 30 at the Greens Farms Train Station. All levels and all paces are welcome. The event is free and post-run refreshments are provided. Visit The Joggers Club to find out more information.
The Bridgeport Hospital Home Run will take place on May 30 at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. The event features a 5K run, a children's fun run, a walk and a wheelchair race. Race proceeds benefit the Heart Institute at Bridgeport Hospital and begins at 9 a.m. Log on to the website for more information.

Swimming
The fourth annual Swim Across American Greenwich to Stamford swim will be held Saturday, June 26 and will include four options for swimmers: a 1.5-mile course, a ½-mile course, a challenging 5-mile course, or a pool swim. Those swimming the most popular 1.5 mile course will start at the beach at Greenwich (Tods) Point with participants swimming along the shore of Long Island Sound to Dolphin Cove in Stamford. The Swim Across America event raises funds for the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), the nations only non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to funding cancer gene therapy research. ACGT is based in Stamford and its headquarters are the finish line for the swim. Participants must register at www.swimacrossamerica.org by clicking on the Greenwich Stamford Swim link.
Tag Sale
The Staples football team will be conducting a tag sale on June 12 at the high school. The sale will help build a new concession stand at Staples High School and support WWPT Wrecker Radio. Items needed include sports and recreation equipment, coats and jackets, outdoor and household furniture, lawn and garden equipment, toys, jewelry and handbags. Items must be in very good condition and a complete set. Football players will be available to pick up and deliver large items. Items can be dropped up three weeks prior to the event. Tennis
Slammer Tennis World is conducting tournaments for boys and girls players ages 12-14 in June and August. Click here to register for the June tournament. Triathlons
The Mossman Sprint Triathlon will be held at Calf Pasture Beach on July 18. There will be a kids race on Saturday. The triathlon is a sprint distance, consisting of a half mile swim, a 12.5 mile bike ride and a 5-kilometer run. For more information, log on to www.teammossman.com
TriFitness Seaside will take place Sunday, June 13, at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. The race consists of a half-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 5-kilometer run. It begins at 6:30 a.m. Athletes can register for the race here.
