Saugatuck Crew Heads to Regatta in Boston

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Saugatuck Rowing Club Juniors will race in this weekend’s Head Of the Charles Regatta in Boston. 

The Head of the Charles is the largest two-day rowing event in the world, with more than 8,000 rowers from around the globe competing in 55 races. More than 300,000 spectators are expected to line the riverbanks along the three-mile course.

"We are looking forward to once again competing at the Charles,'' coach Sharon Kriz said. "We are particularly excited about the prospects for the boys eight, who are undefeated this season, winning at the Tail of the Fish Regatta at Saratoga Springs and at the Head of the Housatonic at Shelton, Conn.”

The athletes representing Saugatuck are:

Boys: 2x - Max Gibson and Marco Grant. 4+ - Lauren Hochman, Chris Fincher, Lachlan Lancaster, Jay Tsai and Brian Fairfield. 8+ - Greg Zales, Jake Esse, Jake Petterson, Chris Babinec, Duncan Campbell, John Morrison, Cameron Yates, Jeff Monahan and William Ritter.  

Girls: 2x - Rosie Grinalds and Alex Zadravec. 4+ - Emily Clayton, Marrison Hom, Christina Johnson, Maya Schumer and Blythe Lewis. 8+ - Sam Powers, Jo Gurman, Louisa Freeman, Catherine Nohre, Anna Petterson, Allie Diamond, Alison Morrison, Connor Cashel and Breezy Ferrara.
