NEW YORK, N.Y. The New York Mets open their 2012 season Thursday at 1:10 p.m. with a three-game home series against Eastern Division rival Atlanta with hopes of improving on last years 77-85 record.
The Mets, who have struggled through financial and legal problems, injuries to key players and the loss of star shortstop Jose Reyes in the postseason, hope this spring brings renewal on all fronts.
