Greens Farms Volleyball Upends Masters

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Greens Farms Academy volleyball team upset Masters, 3-1, in the first round of the Fairchester Athletic Association tournament. The game scores were 22-25, 25-12, 26-24 and 25-21. The victory sends the Dragons to Wednesday’s semifinals at top-seeded Greenwich Academy.

The Dragons (14-5) again relied on aggressive net attacks led by Kiera Wood, who pounded out 12 kills with great support from Sarah Young, Laura Reul and Sarah MacDonell, who combined for 16 kills. MacDonell also put up 18 assists.

The Dragons defense was also instrumental in the victory as they turned back a strong hitting attack led by Lucy Hoffman and Rachel Swimmer, each with 10 digs, and Brooke Cirillo and Sarah Young, who picked another 13 digs combined.

Mickaela Fouad and Annie Flecha-Hirsch came off the bench in the fourth set to give Greens Farms a much-needed boost with its serving.
