Greens Farms Girls Soccer Reaches League Semis

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Greens Farms Academy defeated Convent of the Sacred Heart, 1-0, in the semifinals of the Fairchester Athletic Association girls soccer playoffs. The Dragons will play at Greenwich Academy in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Greens Farms scored the winning goal in the 74th minute on a header by Caroline Vanacore. Blair Pelley sent the ball in on a corner kick, and Vanacore directed it into the goal.

The Greens Farms efense, led by senior captains Kate Tomlinson, Sam Brown and Emily Caldwell, played well in front of sophomore goalie Caroline Kruk. Throughout the second half, juniors Kiki Kauffman and Meighan Grady, sophomore Rachel Cohen and freshmen Olivia Lennon and Campbell Goldsmith controlled the middle, sending balls up to the offense for scoring chances.
