Area Runners Shine at Ridgefield Half Marathon

Wilton's Mary Dolan Zengo led the women's field while runners from Weston, Stamford, Norwalk, New Canaan and Greenwich were among the age group winners in Sunday's Ridgefield Half Marathon.Zengo won the women's race in 1:29:24, averaging 6:49 per mile. Old Greenwich's Sharon Vos took second in 1:31:33.Two Weston women led their age groups. Jojo Korsh won the women's 17-and-under division in 2:25:21, while Kirstin Powers paced women 30-39 in 1:34:22. Norwalk's Erin Herlihy was second in the 30-39 division in 1:39:10.Renee Codd of New Canaan took third among women 40-49 in 1:40:19. Andrea Williamson-Hughes of New Canaan won the women's 50-59 division in 1:39:06, followed by Kathleen Kilbride of New Canaan (1:40:47) and Greenwich's Emmy Stocker (1:42:45).Stamford's Jeff Watson finished seventh overall in 1:20:55. He was third in the men's 30-39 age group. Jacob Grice of Stamford took scond among men 18-29 in 1:22:42.John Krasniewicz of Old Greenwich won the men's 60-69 group in 1:32.25, and Ron Rembaum of Old Greenwich was third in 1:43:02. Stamford's Arturo Montero took second among men 70-79 in 2:15:58.Other noteworthy performances included Stamford's Alejandro Pasten, who was 14th overall in 1:25:20, and Flavio DeSimone, also of Stamford, who was 16th in 1:25:54.There were 472 runners in the race, which many use as a tune up for the New York City Marathon next month.
