JoAnne Fisher has earned her bragging rights. She has sold more than 1,000 homes in her 30-year career as a real estate agent in Wilton. And she says that 2010 was an excellent year, too. Not my best, but very good, she says.
JoAnne believes that the key to her success is simple. I never, ever believe that theres a bad market, she says. Its always just an adjusting market. Over the years, shes seen it all. Interest rates were 19 percent when I first started, she says with a laugh. People couldnt believe Id want to get into this business. And so when the market slides, as it did recently, JoAnne can sympathize with her clients rollercoaster emotions. Shes seen it all before. Buying and selling a house involves a lot of stress and pressure, she explains. I get the pain people are feeling, she says.
JoAnne started working in real estate when her daughter was young. Juggling long hours as an accountant in Stamford and being a mom in Wilton was hard, and she hoped selling houses in her town would give her more quality time at home. I tried working part-time, she says, but that didnt work out for me. JoAnne Fisher likes to be fully occupied all the time.
Because she works long hours, she has learned to carve out time for herself. I schedule it, she says. Its very important. Her downtime takes her all over the world, usually in the summer months when real estate is quiet. I love to go away and see beautiful places, but I always come back to Connecticut, says the Greenwich native, who has also lived in Stamford, Darien and Westport. Other parts of the world have earthquakes, fires, mudslides and floods, JoAnne says. This is really the best place to live. I truly believe that, and thats why its so easy for me to sell homes here.
Are you in sales? Have you ever sold 1,000 of anything? Id love to know. Look for me on our Facebook page.
