Her Golf Clubs Languished All Summer

Traveling light is not an option for Linda Sorbo. The back of her car is loaded with For Sale and Open House signs – and her golf clubs sit right alongside, ready for use at any time.

“I’m a wonderful golf guest if someone invites me,” she says, “My clubs are always in my car but, sad to say, this summer I haven’t given them an airing even once – I’ve just been so busy trying to sell houses.”

After a first career working for a French cosmetics company and 10 years of perpetual selling up and down the northeast U.S., as well as several fascinating trips to Paris, Linda decided she’d had it with living out of a suitcase.  “My mother, who was a force of nature, an amazing woman, had her own business selling real estate in Stamford.  She kept after me to come and work alongside her, and I’m so happy I did.  What I learned from my mother can’t be taught in school.”

A lifelong Stamford resident, Linda knows the ins and outs of her town -- "an incredible mix of culture, shopping and restaurants,” she says. She used to cook and entertain at home, but now Iher foodie impulses take her out.  In the past week she’s been to Nuage in Cos Cob which serves up French-Asian food. And to Saito in Greenwich, another Asian fusion restaurant. She also went to Meigas in Norwalk, where she loved the Spanish menu – and, according to Linda, the Stamford Yacht Club has spruced up its menu so give them a try too.

Linda has been an agent at William Pitt/Sotheby for over 20 years -- a career so long that she is now selling houses to the children of her old clients.  “Friends tell me to get a life, but this is my life. I simply love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else,” she adds.  “Customers know that they can call me at any time – even 11 at night. Buying and selling a home is a very stressful thing for many people and they want someone to hold their hand -- I’m always there for them.”
