Police responded to Roodner Court on the night of Sept. 18 on a report of a man who had been bitten by a dog and was seriously injured, the Hour reported.
When they found the man by following a trail of blood, officers saw he was bleeding heavily from the arm, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to the Hour.
The victim told officers that he had encountered 35-year-old Leslie Rodriguez going through a recycling container looking for cans outside, and that Rodriguez had left items on the floor, according to the Hour. The man told Rodriguez to clean up the mess, at which point Rodriguez had the dog bite the man on his hand and arm, the Hour reported.
Rodriguez had also told nearby witnesses not to tell the police what happened, otherwise he would go after them, police told the Hour.
The victim positively identified Rodriguez, who was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree assault on a person over 60, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace, the Hour reported. He was held on $50,000 bond and went to court on Friday, according to the Hour.
