Train Service Cuts Continue Thursday

UPDATE FOR THURSDAY: Metro-North trains will continue on this same schedule again on Thursday as repairs continue on the overhead wires in the vicinity of Noroton Heights.

ORIGINAL STORY: Metro-North riders can expect service changes for Wednesday morning's commute after about 3,000 feet of wire between the Noroton Heights and Rowayton stations was pulled down early Tuesday. On top of the icy conditions, the downed wires caused further headaches for those trying to get to work Tuesday morning. Some commuters faced delays of more than 40 minutes in both directions during the morning rush hour.

To make repairs, Metro-North Railroad announced it is making changes in the Wednesday morning service. Here is a list of trains that have been canceled or combined for repairs:

• The 6:25 a.m. from Bridgeport to Grand Central Terminal will be combined with the 6:11 a.m. from New Haven to Stamford. This train will go to Grand Central and make all stops of both trains.

• The 7:26 a.m. from Danbury to Stamford will end at South Norwalk. Those going to Stamford can switch to the 8:22 a.m. train that arrives in Stamford at 8:37 a.m.

• The 8:49 a.m. from South Norwalk is combined with the 8:04 a.m. from New Haven. This train will make all stops and arrive at Grand Central at 9:50 a.m.

• The 8:10 a.m. from Stamford to New Haven-State Street is canceled. Commuters can use the 8:24 a.m. from Stamford that arrives in New Haven-State Street at 8:28 a.m.
