Storm Assistance Deadline Looms

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has announced that Connecticut residents who suffered storm and/or flood damage to their homes and businesses in the spring have one week left to request disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"We are urging people to register with FEMA before the deadline of Tuesday, July 27. Register online or call the hotline," said Rell in a press release. "Either way, make sure you do so right away in order to qualify for help."

More than $7 million in disaster assistance has been given to Connecticut residents and businesses to date. As of July 19, 3,681 state residents had registered with FEMA. Payments totaling $4.3 million have been awarded for home repairs and temporary housing, $244,276 for medical costs, personal property damage and other costs not protected by insurance, and $2.7 million for SBA assistance.
