Deep Freeze Makes Its Way to Northeast

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — After a balmy start to the New Year, temperatures will begin to plunge as a cold snap hits the Northeast, Weather.com reports.

After a high of about 40 degrees on Monday afternoon, with strong winds under an increasingly cloudy sky, the temperature is predicted to drop to about 25 overnight, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.

On Tuesday, expect a high of 25 with a slight chance of snow showers before noon. Temperatures will bottom out in the single digits and teens across the Northeast overnight into Wednesday, dropping to about 15 degrees along coastal Fairfield County, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association website. The lowest temperatures of the winter so far are forecast.
