WILTON, Conn. Wilton has its very own national historic site with Weir Farm, and it is celebrating its 21st anniversary this weekend.
The anniversary was technically Oct. 31, and a celebratory walk had been scheduled for Oct. 30. But that was canceled because of the unusual winter storm, said Cassie Werne, a park ranger at Weir Farm. The event was rescheduled for this weekend.
The celebration includes an hour-and-a-half walk around the park lead by Park Ranger Caitlin Sjaarda, who will answer the park's most frequently asked question: How do you become a national park and why is Weir farm one?
Although the park has regular guided tours, Werne said, This walk is really exciting, because it ends in cake.
Weir Farm, the home of American Impressionist painter J. Alden Weir, was established as a part of the National Park Service on Oct. 31, 1990.
Registration is required to participate in the Sunday, Nov. 13, walk and celebration. There is no fee. The walk will begin at 1 p.m., followed by cake and sparkling cider.
