The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Fire Headquarters, 121 Connecticut Ave. The doors will open at 8:15 a.m. The event is free, but the hosts are asking for donations of new and unwrapped toys and gifts for the annual Toy Drive.
Toys and gifts will be collected for the Human Services Council's Children's Bank, which helps children who have been abused, neglected, or are at-risk. Many of the children live in foster care or group homes, and are struggling with frightening and unclear futures. For many, this will be their only gift this holiday season. Human Services Council staff will also be on-site if attendees wish to make a financial donation or give a gift card instead of a toy.
