Choir Lights Up Black Friday

Shoppers at Town Center Mall in Stamford were treated to a surprise musical performance Friday by the Greenwich Choral Society. The songfest was part of the Mall’s Holiday in Harmony celebration.

At exactly 1 o’clock, Choral Society members began singing the “Twelve Days of Christmas” from different locations in the mall as they walked to the center stage.  Hundreds of smiling patrons stopped their Black Friday shopping to enjoy the concert.

“What a nice treat on this crazy day,” said Margaux Webster of Westport.

“We’re excited to have the Stepping Stones Museum for Children as the presenting sponsor,” said Jim Zielinski, the mall’s director of marketing. “Together we’ll be making a grant to the Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic Orchestra.”

The Greenwich Choral Society consists of 120 auditioned singers under the direction of Maestro Paul Muller. It has performed in venues across Fairfield County and in New York and Europe.

The group has several concerts scheduled in the area:  Dec. 4-5 and March 5 at Christ Church in Greenwich and May 21 at the Palace Theatre in Stamford.
