Spring Silhouettes Bell and Blossom

What’s the skinny for spring? This year, it’s big and billowy. Leave the slinky, calf-hugging skinny jeans behind and embrace the swinging freestyle that’s swishing into retailers as we speak. From denim to dungarees, trousers to slacks, this season your britches will have a little more room to breathe.

Many women will welcome the resurgence of this classic look. After all, a wider bottom balances an ample middle and the overall effect is mercifully slimming.

So, what should you look for in a wide leg style? Here are a few tips:

* Go long. Roomy legs flatter any silhouette or shape, but only if they’re worn at the right length. Choose a pant that falls just below your ankle bone – or longer—to achieve a balanced look. Anything shorter will prompt questions about an impending flood.

* Breathe into it. Wide leg pants are designed to elongate your shape. But this figure-fixing look only works when worn in the proper size. Make sure the pants you purchase aren’t too snug around the middle. If the top is too tight, the extra room around the bottom will only accentuate the difference.

* Fancy your footwork. The length of your wider leg pants determines the height of your heel. This fact cannot be overstated. If your cuffs are scraping the ground, aim higher. Flats only work with this look if the cuff falls above your heel.

Master this style for spring and you'll definitely be the one wearing the pants in your world.
