Get In the Pink

Last weekend’s Golden Globe Awards saw one of spring’s hottest make-up trends blowing kisses up and down the red carpet. Hot pink lips are puckered up to be the must-have accessory of the season. It’s a playful twist on the classic red -- kind of like spring cleaning for your make-up bag.

“When you think sexy, most people tend to think red.” says make-up artist and owner of Westport beauty emporium, Faces Beautiful. “But pink--especially a hot pink -- can be just as sexy, just not so in your face. The right pink says 'I'm no longer a little girl, but I don't have to be a vixen.”

So how do you work the right pink for your pout? "Just like red, pink can be blue-based or yellow-based," says Gail. "So if you look good in cooler tones, you want a pink that's blue-based, like fuschia. If you have a warmer complexion, you want to choose a pink with a more yellow-orange base. Whatever your hue, pinks have to shine, so make sure you've got a great glosssy lip color."

When you take the plunge into pink this spring will you stick with blushing shades, or will you pump it up with bold brights? Share your spring beauty tips here, or email me at mmorelli@mainstreetconnect.us.
