Ride 'Em Bike Cowboys!

Howdy, bike cowboys! Come on down to the New Canaan Nature Center on May 16 and be part of its new New Canaan Bike Rodeo. The Nature Center partners with the New Canaan YMCA for Healthy Kid's day. Lasso your bikes and bring them to the New Canaan Nature Center for non-competitive cycling, with an emphasis on safety (read: no wheelies!).  Little pardners (preschoolers) can bring trikes and do their cycling thing in a special area. You can also have your bike inspected and learn how to practice bicycle-handling skills.

Lou Kozar of Cycles on Call, a bicycle store that comes to bikers, runs safety inspections and helmet checks. He'll also answer bicycle related questions. Some  activities not requiring wheels include: meeting Nature Center animals, creating arts and crafts, and being decorated with tattoos and face paints. New Canaan Fire department, New Canaan Police and EMS bike patrol members are also on hand to meet and greet. The New Canaan Ambulance Corps brings an ambulance great for taking a look-see. The event is free and takes place Sunday, May 16 from noon to 2 p.m. For more information, visit the NCNC's website.
