Norwalk's Stepping Stones Museum Lists Holiday Events

NORWALK, Conn. – The Stepping Stones Museum for Children has announced its holiday event schedule.

The first big event is on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5-8 p.m. “Get Into It!” will feature the annual lighting of the tree and courtyard at the museum. Admission is free.

Saturday, Dec. 6, sees the museum hosting an “Around The World: Creative Kids” event at 2 p.m. Children will learn about the Swedish Vikings who founded Russia, and have a chance to create their own Viking helmet. Tickets are required, and space is limited.

Wednesday, Dec. 10, is when the little patrons get involved, with a “Music Time – Suzuki Babies” event from 12:30-1:15 p.m. Children 3 and younger and their adults are invited. The limit is 15 students, and tickets are required because of limited space.

Another “Around The World” event is planned for Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., this one featuring ABBA Girlz, a tribute to the Swedish supergroup of the 1970s.

From Friday, Dec. 19, to Christmas Eve (excluding that Sunday), the North Pole comes to Stepping Stones from 11 a.m.-noon and 3-4 p.m. Santa Claus and his friends Frosty, Reindeer and Penguin bring their magic to the museum.

Saturday, Dec. 20, sees a Holiday Handbell performance at 2 p.m.

The museum also has Swedish-themed events planned for Friday, Dec. 26, through New Year's Eve, excluding Dec. 28, running from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m."'Kul aktiviteter" is Swedish for "fun activities," and that's what's on the docket.

As for ongoing events, the museum will host a daily Elf Workshop starting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and running until Dec. 18, excluding Sundays. Children can help the elves with their work from 11 a.m.-noon.
