You might know John Lennon's music backwards and forwards but his kind of genius makes room for another direction, and that's what The John Lennon Song Project brings to Fairfield Theatre Company on Jan. 22. This seven piece ensemble, formed and led by Aztec Two-Step's Rex Fowler and singer, songwriter and composer Tom Dean, takes Lennon's songs, including Beatles favorites, solo work and little known compositions, and uniquely reinterprets them adding superb lead singing and three part harmonies. Add to their performance vibrantly imagined musical accompaniment created by this team of expert musicians. Tom Dean handles six and twelve string guitars and mandola as well as vocals. Rex Fowler is vocalist as well as guitarist. Jordan Jancz, seasoned Broadway musician, adds cello and percussion. Violin and vocals are the purview of Alana MacDonald and Teg Glendon, "a fugitive from the law of averages," (as their website calls him) covers bass guitar and vocals. Robby Coffin, on electric guitar and vocals and Gary Schreiner on accordion and chromatic harp round out the line up.
