Get the Dish in "Celebrity Autobiography"

Two talented actress-comedians, former “Saturday Night Live” star Rachel Dratch and Tony Award-winning actress Karen Ziemba, bring their combined comic heft to Long Wharf Theatre's production of "Celebrity Autobiography." The show, which won a 2009 Drama Desk Award in the "Unique Theatrical Experience" category, takes over the Long Wharf stage on Dec. 29 and 30.

Quirky and hilarious, "Celebrity Autobiography" is fashioned from selected passages from real celebrity memoirs. Dratch and Ziemba and an ensemble of other talented actors, including Joe Patoliano and Michael Ian Black, bring to life the pearls of wisdom of show business types. Included is Suzanne Somers's “poetry," surprising “romance tips” from Tommy Lee and entries by the Hollywood love triangle of the ages involving Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Created by Emmy nominee Eugene Pack with Dayle Reyfel, Time Magazine called it “The funniest docu-theater stunt of the year.”

Rachel Dratch has appeared in many films and on TV since her seven year stint on "Saturday Night Live" ended. Among them are "Just Go With It," "My Life in Ruins," "Spring Breakdown," "Ugly Betty," and "30 Rock." Before "SNL," she was a member of Chicago's "Second City" comedy troupe.

Karen Ziemba has left her mark on a boatload of Broadway shows, notably musicals, including "Contact," "Chicago," and "Crazy for You." She won several awards, including a Tony, for her performance in "Contact." Last season, she starred in Long Wharf's production of A. R. Gurney's "Sylvia."

Come have fun watching Dratch, Ziemba and a comedic ensemble perform what Ben Brantley in the New York Times called "a merry compendium of the witlessness and wisdom of the rich and famous." Performance times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $40. For more information, visit Long Wharf's website.
