Fair Grows Gardeners' Skills

If you dream of turning your backyard into your pantry, come to the 8th annual Gardening Fair for helpful presentations, vendors and experts who will motivate you to start growing what you eat. The theme of this information-packed, free resource is "Edibles." Sponsored by The University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program of Fairfield County and the Connecticut Master Gardener Association, all you have to do is show up on August 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Then, jump into an array of presentations on Edible Landscaping, Vegetables Contained, Vegetables that Grow Above the Soil and Vegetables that Grow in the Soil. Make stops at the information booths to learn about vegetables, invasives, turf care, ferns, power tools for gardeners and low-toxic gardening approaches. Consult the Master Gardeners who are on hand to answer thorny questions and concerns, as well as test soil samples. The Fair takes place on the grounds of the Fairfield County Extension Center at 67 Stony Hill Road in Bethel, CT, close to Exit 8 on I-84. Call the Master Gardener office with questions, at (203) 207-3262 or visit the Fair's website.
