Color Your Halloween (A Little) Scary

Ominous orange, beastly black and other creepy-crawly colors make up the palette for the Beardsley Zoo's entertainly dark-hued Halloween celebration. Extend the fun of this vivid, haunted holiday by stopping by the zoo (in costume, of course) for a wide spectrum of frightful activities of many shades. For five evenings, families can pick their poison at the zoo's Howl-O-Ween. There's the Creepy Hayride, the Toxic Greenhouse and the Haunted Farmyard to wander through. Or, if you have the fortitude, try all three. When you're thoroughly scared-saturated, let your guard down and enjoy the mystifying magic of Jim Sisti. A veteran performer and teacher, his books on magic and magic effects are best-sellers. He also served as an advisor to the Criss Angel's "Mindfreak" TV series on A&E.

Take off your mask and get your face painted, enjoy a small toy trick-or-treat, and of course, load up on lots of candy. The scarecrows in the zoo's Third Annual Scarecrow Competition are on view and waiting to be admired.  Don't miss this hauntingly good time. Celebrate Howl-O-Ween on Oct. 22, 23, 29, 30 and 31, from 6 - 9 p.m. Admission is $8 per person. For more information, visit the Beardsley's website.
