A construction crew is hard at work at 497 Connecticut Ave. on the Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen. The Louisiana-style eatery is known for its fried chicken and Cajun-style fast food.
No opening date has been announced for when Popeyes will begin dishing up its signature fried chicken, butterfly shrimp and fluffy Southern biscuits.
So far, the exterior walls have gone up, but the Popeyes is not yet its signature bright orange color.
The nearest Popeyes are in Bridgeport and Trumbull, with new restaurants also under construction in Danbury and Stratford.
Just up the road at 467 Connecticut Ave. is another construction project: the new Chick-fil-A.
There is no opening date yet for the Chick-fil-A, either. It does promise to be a big event: The chain is famous for its 24-hour lead-up and giveaways when new restaurants open.
Chick-fil-A is famous for its chicken sandwiches, including the Classic With A Twist: "A boneless breast of chicken seasoned to perfection, hand-breaded, pressure cooked in 100 percent refined peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips."
The fast-food eatery also dishes up nuggets, wraps, salads and even breakfast.
The closest Chick-fil-A restaurants can be found in Danbury and Brookfield.
