Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Friday In Fairfield County FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- That National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Friday through Saturday morning, as freezing rain is expected to hit Fairfield County. The advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday. Precipitation will likely start as light snow and sleet Friday afternoon, before transitioning to light freezing rain Friday evening. Norwalk Woman Charged With Selling Drugs NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk woman was arrested on a number of drug charges Wednesday. Police said that the Norwalk Police Department Special Services Division served three arrest warrants for Sara Flavin, 32, of Norwalk on Wednesday. The warrants were the result of a narcotics investigation conducted by Officer Suda, police said. Flavin was arrested during a car stop on Main Avenue. Large Quantities Of Pot, Cocaine, Pills Found In Norwalk Drug Raid NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested on drug sale charges after police say they found more than a pound of marijuana and nearly 30 grams of cocaine in his home. The Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit had launched an investigation into Matthew Ortero, 28, of Norwalk for the sale of drugs, police said. Monroe Family Escapes Early Morning House Fire MONROE, Conn. -- A family of four escaped a house fire on Old Tannery Road in Monroe early Thursday morning thanks to their working smoke detector, fire officials said. The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call at around 2:22 a.m. Upon arrival, smoke was visible from the structure, and the family had safely evacuated. Two More Unlocked Cars Broken Into In Darien DARIEN, Conn. — Two unlocked cars on Park Lane in Darien were entered last week, though in both cases it appears nothing was taken. A resident reported on Thursday morning that she had seen footprints in the snow around her GMC Acadia, and that the car had been entered. It had been left unlocked overnight, police said. Darien Resident Pounds On Windows To Stop Man Breaking Into Her SUV DARIEN, Conn. — A resident of Intervale Road in Darien caught a man trying to break into her car while she was at home last week. Police responded to the home at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. A resident told police that she had been watching TV when she saw her front motion-activated flight light go on. Darien Homeowner Finds Drill-Bit In Lock Of Residence DARIEN, Conn. — A Darien resident returned home to find that a drill-bit had been left in the keyhole of a garage door, according to police.
