Two Arrested After Chase In Stolen Car From Greenwich To Stamford GREENWICH, Conn. — Two juveniles were arrested and more suspects are being sought after a chase from Greenwich ended with a crash in Stamford on Christmas night, according to Greenwich Time. The chase began when a police car pulled up behind two cars at an entrance ramp to I-95 at Indian Field Road in Greenwich late Monday night, according to Greenwich Time. Chimney Fire Damages Stamford Home On Christmas STAMFORD, Conn. -- A chimney fire on Christmas night caused extensive damage to a home on Old North Stamford Road. At around 9:44 p.m. Monday, units from the Belltown Volunteer Fire Department and companies from the Stamford Fire Department were dispatched to 114 Old North Stamford Road for a report of a chimney fire. Engine 41 arrived within four minutes and saw a moderate amount of smoke coming from the chimney, Belltown fire officials said. Connecticut Activates Severe Cold Weather Protocol Ahead Of Plunging Temps FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – In anticipation of the dropping temperatures expected over the next week, Gov. Dannel P. Two Taken To Hospital After Car Hits Guardrail In Brookfield BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Two people were sent to the hospital after a car hit a guardrail on Route 7 in Brookfield on Christmas. The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and EMS were dispatched to Route 7 northbound between exits 11 and 12 at around 9:45 p.m. Monday for single-car accident. Crashes, Fires Make For Busy Christmas For Monroe Firefighters MONROE, Conn. -- Firefighters in Monroe had a busy Christmas, responding to several events throughout the day. A crash on Main Street at the Trumbull town line involved a minor extrication, according to the Stepney Fire Department. It was the fifth call of the day for the Stepney, Monroe and Stevenson Fire Departments. Other calls included a tree fire caused by contact with power lines, and an oven fire.

Kirk James, 77, Ex-Greenwich Officer, To Be Laid To Rest In Arlington GREENWICH, Conn. -- Kirk J. James, a retired Greenwich police officer and decorated Army veteran, died on Wednesday, Dec. 13. He was 77. James was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Portsmouth, Va., the son of Leslie L. and Lucille L. (Zeltman) James. He grew up and attended various schools throughout the United States as a U.S. Navy "brat," graduating from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1958. James joined the Marine Corps following high school and later joined the U.S. Army in 1965. He was a hero in the Vietnam War and his actions saved many fellow soldiers in combat. He rec…
