Car Window Smashed, Purse Taken At Darien Y DARIEN, Conn. — Someone smashed a car window and snatched a purse while it was parked at the Darien YMCA last week, according to police. Officers responded to the YMCA on Post Road on Wednesday, Dec. 13 on a report of a burglary. They met with a woman who said she had parked her car in the lost at around 5:30 p.m. and returned at 6:40 p.m. When she returned, she saw that the rear passenger's side window had been broken, police said. Former Bridgeport Doctor Accused Of Sexual Assault Gets Probation BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A former Bridgeport Hospital doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient was granted a special probation and will return to his native Philippines, according to the Connecticut Post. Louie Gangcuangco, 31, had been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault last November. A 53-year-old male patient had reported that he had been sexually assaulted by Gangcuangco following open heart surgery at Bridgeport Hospital. Former Bethel Resident Sentenced For Selling Heroin In Danbury Overdose BETHEL, Conn. -- A former Bethel resident was sentenced to time served and community service for selling heroin involved in a non-fatal overdose in Danbury last year. Ryan Budd, 27, was sentenced Tuesday to time served and three years of supervised release, as well as 150 hours of community service, according to John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Budd lives in Branford, but lived in Bethel at the time of the overdose. Packages Stolen From Lobby Of Greenwich Office Building GREENWICH, Conn. — Someone captured on video stealing packages from the lobby of an office building in Greenwich may have been trying to disguise himself as a UPS driver, according to Greenwich Time. Police told Greenwich Time that a number of packages were stolen from the lobby of a building on Horseneck Lane last Thursday. Surveillance video of the theft shows a man taking packages, wearing what appears to be a brown jacket similar to those worn by UPS delivery drivers, according to Greenwich Time. New Year, New Threads: Ridgefield Police Switch To Blue Uniform In 2018 RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield police officers will look a little different in 2018 when they begin sporting new blue uniforms. Members of the Ridgefield Police Department will make the change from the previous gray uniform to the new blue uniform beginning on Jan. 1, 2018. Bridgeport Man Pleads Not Guilty To Stratford Shooting & Robbery STRATFORD, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man accused of shooting a bartender during a robbery of BAR in Stratford in November has pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to the Connecticut Post. Jachim Brown, 27, had inside information that there would be cash in a bin under the bar when he went to to downtown bar on Nov. 14, the Connecticut Post reported. Police: Stamford Man Used Teen To Help Him Sell Crack STAMFORD, Conn. — A 19-year-old Stamford man accused of using a 15-year-old girl to help him sell crack, was arrested after police found crack and a gun in his home, according to the Stamford Advocate. The Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad had launched an investigation into 19-year-old Bismal Almanzar, and during the investigation he sold crack to an undercover officer on three occasions, according to the Stamford Advocate. Danbury Firefighters Rescue Car That Went Off Road On I-84 DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury firefighters cut through a steel guardrail to rescue a car that had gone off the road on I-84 Monday night. Members of the C Platoon responded to the scene Monday night when the car went off the highway and into a wooded area on I-84 eastbound. A section of steel guardrail had to be cut to allow access to the car. Engine 23 and Squad 1 assisted state police with hazard control and clean up, fire officials said. They also checked for any injuries, but there weren't any.

Monroe Truck Driver Cited After Propane Tanker Goes Off Road And Hits House BETHANY, Conn. -- A Monroe driver was cited after a propane tanker truck he was driving went off the road, flipped over and struck a house in Bethany on Monday, according to state police. At around 3:45 p.m. on Monday, the truck carrying a full tank of approximately 2,800 gallons of propane was traveling east on Beacon Road in Bethany. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Ralph Fensore of Monroe, was attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway when he lost control of the truck, causing it to veer off the road, state police said.
