Darien and Stamford police and the Darien PD's canine Zulu worked together on an undercover drug investigation that led to the arrest of Timothy Simpson of Stamford. Simpson was arrested at 4 p.m. on Friday at his home at 172 Vine Road in Stamford.
Helped by an undercover informant, police arrested the 21-year-old on charges of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a drug factory.
Police seized 22½ grams of marijuana, $945 in cash, a plastic cup containing six individual packets of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, transaction records and a shoebox containing empty baggies.
Simpson was at the police station Monday afternoon, and claimed that his Xbox gaming console and a controller, his wallet and keys had all gone missing after his arrest. The police said they did not take these items.
During the arrest, a woman identifying herself as Simpson's girlfriend entered the residence. She was asked by police if she had any drugs on her and said no. But Zulu indicated otherwise, and police found seven small bags of marijuana in a zippered pocket of her purse.
Simpson posted $5,000 bond and has a court date Sept. 13. His girlfriend was given a misdemeanor summons and is due in court Sept. 10.
