In the event, the teams will lift weights and raise money to support research looking for a cure for Rasmussen’s Encephalitis.

Inspired by Grace Wohlberg, sister of former Blue Wave football player Mike Wohlberg, the two teams will put their muscle to good use as they bench, squat and clean their way toward a goal of $15,000.

Grace Wohlberg is a freshman at Darien High. She has undergone several surgeries to help control seizures from the rare disease. This is Darien High's fifth year of holding a Lift-a-Thon to raise money for the RE Children's Project.

To donate to this year’s lift-a-thon, maybe a penny per pound or a ?at amount, make checks payable to The RE Children’s Project and send c/o Susan Wyper, 65 Knollwood Lane, Darien, CT 06820.

Or stop by Darien High School at 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, to cheer on the two teams.
