Metro Red Line Closures Draw Complaints From Commuters In DC
Some commuters in DC are up in arms as the WMATA closes down certain Red Line trains to allow for necessary repairs during the holiday season. The Metro began a two-week construction project on the Red Line to "perform critical safety repairs to the tunnel and track infrastructure, upgrade signal and communications systems, and install new platform edge lights," much to the dismay of many riders, who may now have to take shuttles. Man Who Wanted To 'Make Love' With DC Teen He Met On Snapchat Sentenced To Prison Time In MD
A Maryland man who preyed on a Washington, DC teen will spend years behind bars after targeting the girl on social media, federal authorities announced. Jonathan Willis, 37, of North Bethesda, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the coercion and enticement of a 14-year-old online after he repeatedly shared unwanted pictures with the girl and attempting to persuade her to head across state lines for sexual activity. New information has been released by the Maryland Attorney General's Office as investigators continue a probe to a fatal police pursuit that left one dead and two injured in Montgomery County earlier this month. The AG's Office launched an inquiry into the fatal pursuit that led to the death of 37-year-old Washington, DC resident Lawrence White early on Saturday, May 20 that started in North Bethesda. Heads Up Riders: DC Metro To Implement 5 New Station Names
The D.C. Metro will implement new names for five stations, the Metro announced. Starting September 11, signage and maps across the metro system will be updated to follow the new name changes, the company said. Here are the five stations getting a name transformation: White Flint will become North Bethesda Largo Town Center will become Downtown Largo Tysons Corner will become Tysons Prince George’s Plaza will become Hyattsville Crossing West Falls Church secondary name (VT/UVA) will become VT only. Support Surges For Maryland Mom Mourning Loss Of High School Sweetheart
Support is on the rise for a heartbroken mother from Maryland who is grieving the loss of her high school sweetheart. Michael Gregg Dougherty, 39, died Wednesday, March 9 after battling cancer for more than a year and a half, his obituary says.
