Improperly Discarded Fireworks Caused July 4th Fairfax County House Fire
Improperly discarded fireworks have been identified as the cause of a Fourth of July house fire in Fairfax County, authorities said. The spent fireworks went off around 12:55 a.m. on July 4, at a home on the 600 block of Stuart Court in Herndon, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said. Twelve people were displaced by the flames that ravage a two-story, single-family home, including one who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A day of celebration turned into one of misery for multiple Stafford County families displaced by a fast-moving fire on the Fourth of July. At approximately 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, Stafford County Fire and Rescue crews were called to the unit block of Smelters Trace Road in Stafford, when improperly discarded fireworks sparked a blaze that tore through the home. Officers found the group of kids shooting fireworks from the Loudoun Valley High School practice turf around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, June 25, Purceville police said in a release. Two teens in Stafford County got the holiday season off to a rough start after being busted setting off fireworks on Thursday night, the sheriff’s office said. Fireworks Mistaken For Gunshots Puts Arlington School In Lockdown: Police
Washington-Liberty High School was place on lockdown when fireworks were mistaken for gunshots Tuesday, July 19, authorities said. Officers arrived at the school at around 7:50 a.m. and found evidence of fireworks that were set off, Arlington County Police reported.
