A 26-year-old woman was nearly twice the legal limit when she struck a car and was caught driving the wrong way in Virginia, police said. Raechel Chittum was spotted going the wrong way down the 900 block of Princess Anne Street, a one-way street, by a Fredericksburg police officer on Saturday, June 1, the department said in a release. After stopping her Ford Explorer, the officer was approached by a witness who said the vehicle had just struck an occupied car on George Street and failed to stop. Arsonist Lit T-Shirt On Fire, Shoved It Through Neighbor's Mail Slot: Fredericksburg Police
A Fredericksburg woman has found herself behind bars after lighting a t-shirt on fire and shoving it through her neighbor's front door mail slot, police said. The homeowner on the 1200 block of Caroline Street smelled smoke and found the fiery t-shirt around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, Fredericksburg police said. The resident put out the fire and called the E-911 Communications Center to report the arson. The Fredericksburg Fire Department and Fredericksburg police responded to investigate. : Fredericksburg To Lower Speed Limits Next Month
Fredericksburg will lower its speed limits on several downtown streets from 25 miles an hour to 20 mph starting next month. City leaders said the move is part of their plan to increase foot traffic and bicyclists in the business district, according to Patch. The new speed limits take effect on July 1.
