It happened on the northbound side near mile marker 148.8 just outside of Triangle and near near Locust Shade Park around 10:45 a.m. The north left lane, center lane, right lane, and right shoulder are closed. With travelers hitting the road for the long Labor Day Weekend, traffic came to a half in the southbound lanes of the interstate near MD Route 295 as Maryland State Police investigated the fatal crash. Police say that the driver of the scooter struck the side of the tractor-trailer, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Merle Webster Beach, of Springfield, was riding a stolen 2004 Suzuki on Henderson Road near thistledown Trail at a high rate of speed when he crested a small hill and lost control around 1:20 p.m. in Fairfax Station, police said. Beach was ejected from the bike and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Deputy Feels Voltage Feet From Crash That Downed Live Wires In Stafford Nearly $50,000 in damages were caused by a tractor trailer crash that took down live wires in Stafford Monday, Aug. 28, authorities said. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. at Admiral Drive and Wilson Cove in Aquia Harbour. when the tractor trailer struck a power line, causing damage to the poles.
