A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling east on Route 259 (Brocks Gap Road) when it rear-ended a 2015 Ford E350 bus, which was stopped for another eastbound vehicle making a turn around 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, Virginia State Police said. The driver of the Chevrolet, Thomas L. Breighner, 86, of Timberville, VA, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt. John R. Raff, 42, of Perryville, MD, was arrested in Maryland in 2014 and extradited to Virginia for an ongoing NOVA-DC ICAC Task Force investigation, the Virginia State Police said. Raff had attempted to solicit a Virginia State Police agent whom he believed was a minor, a spokesman for the VSP said. Tractor Trailer Bursts Into Flames On I-81 In Northern VA A tractor trailer burst into flames on Monday, Nov. 6 on Interstate 81, officials said. It happened around 7 a.m. on the northbound side near milepost 251, in Rockingham County, Virginia State Police said. The vehicle suffered a mechanical issue which caused the blaze. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured during the incident.  Both sides of the Interstate are closed for precaution.
