The National Weather Service has released snowfall totals for the DMV in this week's storm. In Maryland, Sabillasville which appears to have gotten the most amount of snow: 8.5 inches on Tuesday, Feb. 13, the NWS said. In Virginia, Gavel Springs in Frederick County got about 4.5 inches. New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Snow will fall at about 0.5 inches per hour and will taper by the evening, with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s, the NWS said. A 37-year-old dad died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash during the snowfall on Tuesday, Nov. 15, authorities say. Santos Diaz-Colon, was involved in the crash on Interstate 81 near mile marker 89.5 in Union Township around 6:15 p.m., the Pennsylvania state police at Jonestown, announced early the next morning.
