Springfield Mixing Bowl Car Meet Arrests Police have announced additional arrests at a massive illegal car meetup where drivers antagonized officers in Fairfax County last weekend. Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, an officer saw several vehicles pull into a commercial parking lot in the 6600 block of Electronic Drive in Springfield where a large group of individuals were driving recklessly and in circles, police said. Jose Lazaro Cruz Arrested After more than 30 years on the run, a man accused of killing his wife in Fairfax County has been captured, authorities announced. Jose Lazaro Cruz has been wanted since spring of 1991, when he stabbed his wife, Ana Jurado, 24, on the 3100 block of Cofer Road in West Falls Church, county police said.  The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and Cruz, her estranged husband, was charged on a warrant for felony murder in May 1991.  Cruz fled to El Salvador, and authorities followed — but their efforts in finding him were futile. Vienna Driver, 80, Who Turned Into Crosswalk Killing McLean Pedestrian Cited: Police An 80-year-old driver was served on summons-releasable charges in connection to a deadly crash in Fairfax County last month, police announced. Gamaathige Desoya, of Vienna, was trying to turn left onto northbound Kirby Road on Aug. 12 in McLean, when she struck Brigitte Foster, 86, who was in the crosswalk, the FCPD said. Desoya was cited for Improper Turn and Failure to Yield for a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. Excessive speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
