Officers from the agency were able to quickly apprehend two of three teens - the third was caught by Mount Ranier police officers in Maryland - after they went on a tear earlier this week.

The eventful night began at around 6:50 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, when a woman was exiting her vehicle in the 1200 block of Hamlin Street NE when the three surrounded her and demanded her keys; however, she was able to flee before they could steal the car.

Hours later, at approximately 9 p.m., a second woman was loading groceries into her vehicle in the 3800 block of Georgia Avenue NW when they demanded her keys, to which she complied, and the group fled in her vehicle.

Not long after that, at 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday night, the third victim was getting into her vehicle in the 1200 block of Otis Street NE when they blocked her in with the vehicle stolen from the previous carjacking.

They then assaulted the woman and took her car.

According to the department, the second victim's vehicle was recovered on Monday night and two of the three teens were arrested. The third was later taken into custody in Maryland.

Two 17-year-olds from Northeast DC were arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking. The third is being held by the Mount Ranier Police Department.
